Frontend reddit

Is there a way within the browser (without an extension) to redirect all reddit link to a privacy friendly reddit frontend?

If I do need an extension to achieve this, will that make me more fingerprintable?

If you have a customizable DNS like NextDNS it is possible using Rewrites. If you want me I can explain but DNS Rewrites basically serve this exact function. as for whenever that’s fingperprintable, It isn’t to my understanding, the best that the website will know is that you use NextDNS (or the DNS that supports the rewrites but in general just which DNS if they fingerprint that though ->), check your fingerprinting bits here after you configure it maybe you can know then:

Not sure I would reccommend it but you could always edit the host file on your machine to redirect reddit.com to the IP of whatever frontend you prefer. There is probably a more elegant solution. I also think you may run into certificate issues with this method.

Again if the goal here is redirecting reddit to a frotnend with no extension DNS Rewrites can serve that too. And it is a more recommended method than editing the hosts file.
I do agree you can stumble upon the certificate error however manually allowing it should work and redirect but it may still be annoying so proceed with caution about this.
Honestly the warning is legit though because the next thing you want is for hosts and dns rewrites to be used maliciously.

interesting.I would think it would still have the same certification issues as a host file edit though.

I have edited to reflect that

yeah sorry, im like 10 seconds to late in each response lol
