Filen does not meet the following minimum requirement:
- Must use standard, audited encryption.[1]
There was a pull request in late 2021 to add Filen, but it was rejected on the basis that it did not undergo an external audit. That was still the case in 2023.
This is still the case in 2024, per FIlen’s support page:
Will there be an official security audit?
Yes, to give our users a further sense of security, Filen will be tested by an external company in the near future. As of today, we can’t reveal much about the issue, as no date has been set yet.
