E2EE Cloud storage for Linux with Open Source Clients?

The social side, as in sharing files and folders, is fairly fundamental. The social posts in the feed are an add on. In the feed, everything is still E2EE and you choose the audience. The use case for the social posts is postings photos thoughts, etc to your friends/family in a way that is private and not feeding surveillance capitalism. We do plan on letting you customise the left sidebar though, in which case you could just remove the newsfeed if you want.

Did you follow the instructions at https://flatpak.peergos.org/ ?

Yes!

This is the error:

Hmm let me investigate.

Hmm I’ve just done a fresh install of it on x86_64 Linux mint and it installed fine. Does it error if you try again?

Yes, same error. I’m on Fedora 43 Workstation.

I’ve been using Filen for quite some time now, and thus far, it suits my needs just fine. I haven’t run into issues where files actually disappeared remotely, but I can confirm some bugs pop up every now and then. I’m OK with that for the moment, since I expected as much this early in the game. As far as I can see, their software keeps improving. Personally, I don’t care much for chat and sharing features either, which Filen is also trying to facilitate / encourage (Notes / Chats / Contacts?). In their case I presume (and fear) it’s because they want to focus on companies in the long run. Let’s hope they won’t pivot towards space technology like SpiderOak… :rocket:

Cryptomator has been mentioned quite often in this thread, which makes me wonder: woudln’t that neutralize the advantages of incremental backups? (Serious question, I haven’t taken a deep dive yet) Either way, I do like the concept of encrypting all data prior to sending it to external cloud services.

@ianopolous Props for popping up here and responding to feedback. :+1:

I can reproduce this on Fedora. Thank you. I will investigate. EDIT: It seems to work fine now.

I think so, if Filen is not reproducible.
