Does using profile increase security? or just privacy only?

I work for a 20-30 people tech startup company. I mention that we should use browser “profiles” mostly.

For example: We use gmail, bitbucket, github, ERP and CRM web pages etc… I think everybody should use each account on a new profile and “daily-surf” profile separately.

A developer from company told me that this is not important because browsers does not allow to use other domain’s cookies, so nobody can hack us or do something bad to user from the same profile. He says this is only important for privacy not about security.

I don’t agree with him but I don’t have any academical source/information. If you had some, please share me from here.

Thank you

Different browser profiles only provide little additional security benefits, as long as you use a browser with good site isolation, like Chromium browsers, which are usually used in companies. I would not force employees to use different browser profiles purely from a security perspective, because the benefit is not big enough to justify the additional inconvenience.

Basically no security benefit it just helps you keep your cookies and settings and everything separate.
