This one’s been on my radar for a while, and like other non-element clients, it probably shouldn’t be recommended by PG due to (presumably) slower updates and security fixes and not having as trusted of a group working on the app. Furthermore, what advantage does it have over element?

Yeah, the security angle is absolutely something that would preclude it being included on PG.
In terms of what it offers over element, the main things for me are that it looks nicer aesthetically, has better support for custom stickers and emoji, and has a nice text formatting menu in addition to supporting markdown

I doubt we would really want to duplicate Matrix.org - Clients
If anything we would have a link there in the Element description.
