New video by Proton. Interesting.
I’ll be honest both of them don’t look like they fit their role.
The former CIA analyst looks like a stereotypical libertarian while the Cato Institute fellow looks like a CIA operative ![]()
how can you tell, in your role of studying that you’re doing or? (Sorry for the awkwardness I forgot which one it was).
Or is that like based on looks and opinion?
Pretty sure Kevin was being facetious. Based on how they look is what I kinda feel too.
The CIA guy had an attitude though, somewhat conflicted in what they believe and what they are meant or “forced” to believe given their work and former employment at CIA. Stretching rationales to justify their views.
The Hated One did a video back in 2022 about propaganda starring Andrew Bustamante.
Thanks for sharing!
Yeah.. what he said in this Proton video did not sit right with me or even logically speaking (if you think about it) if you are even half informed of how bad it is in the world with surveillance and all that it entails for the bad.
And watching The Hated One video, the guy is a nutjob with all that I am seeing him say. Sad Proton didn’t vet their presenters better.
You are very welcome.
I recognized him as soon as I started watching the Proton video but I had forgotten how extreme he was back in 2022.
It seems Proton keeps making decisions, almost on a weekly basis, that I just don’t understand.
I’m assuming that not every decision that the general public sees is vetted or green lit by the CEO/Andy. Enough latitude appears to be given to people making content or developing tools that are increasingly often less in line with what and how the privacy community may have wanted it (however small the difference may be). Questionable seeing how much we made Proton in its early days and still do as it grows. Wish they listened more than they used to or like they used to before.
Their ongoing excuse (from what I’ve read on Reddit) is each product has a team working on it. Each product has different levels of complexity and to make the products with security and privacy in mind takes time.
I have no doubt this is true.
Proton still frustrates me. They keep introducing new products instead of finishing their half-baked (another common term I’ve seen on Reddit).
