Hey all,
Was wondering what calorie tracking applications you guys were using for iOS. Looking for something open-source, that doesn’t track and advertise. Don’t mind paying for the app, as long as it fits the aforementioned requirements.

Not open source but the built in health app is e2ee and there’s no ads or anything like that. Apple or anyone else can’t see your data. You can track pretty much anything you want healthwise. Most apps you install will integrate with it anyway.
My 2c is much the same as @fria
If you are using an iPhone, you’ve already made the choice to place some trust in proprietary iOS/Apple. Might as well stick with the usually relatively private built-in apps, unless there are specific articulable reasons (privacy related or otherwise) not to. Likewise with the open source requirement, if the OS itself being closed source isn’t a dealbreaker, using a built-in app that is also closed source is a pretty small consideration in the larger picture.
If you strongly prioritize open source, or strongly prioritize not using Apple apps and services, I think Pixel + G|D|C OS w/out Google Play Services or other Gapps seems like a more logical choice, if you are willing to compromise on these priorities enough to be willing to use proprietary iOS, you might as well take advantage of the parts of the ecosystem that can be used privately so long as they don’t result in lock-in.
