Feels suspicious. Use https://retoswap.com/
Why does it “feel” suspicious to you?
Because it is centralized and website owner could log all possible data and correlate transactions or even hacked.
They enforce pgp encrytion, escrow, anonymous accounts, etc.
still possible what I have said.
There are no logs kept. There isn’t any wallet service on it either, so funds are safe. Even if they were hacked, I don’t see what they could get that would matter.
I was actually going to make a post on that.
I’m looking for a way to transfer money securely & anonymously. Would this work?
Is retoswap suggested by @jerm better?
I don’t know how to see whether or not a service is a scam. The website KYCnot.me lists XMRGlobal and several other Monero services.
At quick glance, XMRGlobal has been added by someone in the community but has not yet been checked by KYCnot[.]me, hence the “community” listing status, and its trust rating (currently 69) is low compared to some of the “best” services. XMRGlobal is missing several attributes that would otherwise boost its trust rating, for instance open source code, non-custodial wallet, peer to peer network and strict no-log policy. XMRGlobal has published code on Github and claims no logging, thus it may be just a matter of someone checking XMRGlobal and updating the listing on KYCnot[.]me.
@jerm said the service is centralized, and that is a problem.
@Cincinnatus if you are just looking for a Monero service, why not just use something trusted that is listed on KYCnot[.]me?
XMRGlobal is just new, and no, it’s not a scam. If you use it before the 1st, they will not charge you a fee. If you want to remain anonymous, use their onion site through the Tor Browser (Security level set to Safest)
I trust XMRGlobal. It’s just a new service so it’s not established yet. However, myself and a couple of others I know have used it without a problem. If everyone refuses to use it because it is new, it’ll never be able grow, which imo, is exactly what the Monero community doesn’t need considering we’ve already lost sites such as Local Monero and others.
XMRGlobal is looking good imo. They’re just an escrow service really and they don’t store any coin on their servers. They’re pretty much exactly what I’ve been looking for. I really just listed it on PG to spread the word. I’m not trying to get PG to recommend it or anything. It’s a privacy focused method of buying and selling XMR so I just saw it as a good fit.
Not the website source code frontend and backend, just some tools to interact with closed source backend. You can’t verify “no logging”.
The reason you shouldn’t trust these services because they can exit scam and have the same vulnerabilities I shared above.
