Thanks for consolidating these offers here. Perhaps people could link other sales here rather than creating a new topic for every deal.
I checked all recommendations from PG site and found those BF discounts:
- addy.io 40% off first year
- Standard Notes Black Friday Sale 50% discount
- Tresorit
- Windscribe (currently not recommended)
I think it would be cool to have a donation system for struggling FOSS devs on Black Friday. Instead of each of us buying yet another subscription, we should donate to a project we like. We could have a PG fund ready to go that would match any such donations across the Black Friday period. I’d contribute to a fund that would match donations to devs. Just an idea…
Probably we can have both things. A thread for the projects that are struggling, that are looking for donations and we believe on their values using their services and this one that can focus on promotions for subscriptions services.
This flashlight is fantastic: LUMINTOP Pocket-Sized Super Bright Flashlight Set Tool AA 3.0 EDC Flashlight, 900 Lumens AA EDC Flashlight with Magnetic Tail and 920mah Rechargeable Battery, 5 Modes with Mode Memory, Waterproof Torc - Amazon.com
Takes standard AA batteries as well as 14500 lithium cells (with one USB-C rechargeable one included).
8/10 would recommend. Not sponsored.
Especially if you use your phone as a flashlight often.
Some context compared to others in this price & size range:
- officially supports both AA and 14500
- can stand on its tail
- the numbers have been verified by others

What does a flashlight from amazon have to do with privacy
Its already in the offtopic category and related to the thread title
I mean, this thread is just listed as black friday and if you check the listing, it is labeled as a black friday deal. Olight is more my speed for flashlights though.
In the spirit of this being an off-topic thread, Mous is currently offering pretty substantial discounts on its products. In my experience they make quality cases, and since Pixels are recommended by PG, it’s maybe somewhat relevant.

Little Snitch (firewall) is running a sale:
HexOS is launching their early access with $99 Lifetime* Licenses for their NAS Software, running until December 2nd.
*Some features will not be immediately available in the HexOS Beta, but a lifetime license grants you access to all features of HexOS forever excluding cloud-based backup, premium support services, and other metered services.
Generally I don´t trust “lifetime” licenses as they are not sustainable.
Anyway, a general question, if someone has a NAS (Synology for example), it does not make sense, right?
This is literally a reskinned TrueNAS made for the average person, and if you read the quote I left, you’d see that it’s only for the software, not for cloud backup or any metered services that have ongoing costs. As to Synology it is useful because eventually your synology nas needs to be replaced or expanded and you buy another one. With NAS software like HexOS, or TrueNAS you just replace the hardware and keep the software.
