Android browsers spoofing timezone.

Hello,

I would like to know of browsers that help spoof timezones on android. IronFox can spoof to UTC-00 but it is incredibly slow browser. I have changed the settings needed to make its performance faster and it is still below my standards.

Cromite allows the user to use random time zones for every page which I think is great, but I need another browser at the moment. I can’t find any private browser that has this feature. Does anyone else know?

Before users suggest, I have already cloned the app to private space on android, and I would still like to know of another app. Thank you.

I’m currently using this:

Works best when coupled with a VPN but check it out.

I will try this out, but still not a solution I hope to settle on. Thank you for showing me this.

It’s the best solution I know that exists for something similar to what you’re asking.

Hi, I’m the developer of GeoSpoof! Please let me know if there are any features that would make it work better for you. Thanks for trying it out

Thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

I will do some testing then let you know.

How do you set IronFox to spoof that timezone?

IronFox > Settings > Scroll all the way down to option titled “IronFox Settings” > Click “Spoof timezone to UTC-0”

I would like to say the default for IronFox and it’s predecessor Mull, was always a spoofed timezone but after a few months, IronFox pushed an update that made the default timezone match the client’s real timezone without adequately alerting any of their users and then burying the setting. That is not why I don’t use IronFox, the security is by far inferior which can be acceptable to users the speed and performance is unforgivable.

I noted this issue too and enabled privacy.resistFingerprinting temporarily in about:config. Enabling RFP in Ironfox matches with Arkenfox TZP tests but many users won’t be using this. @celenity adding a toggle in settings will be helpful too.

OP can try WebLibre. WebLibre topic at PG forum.

I have feedback for you. Where would you like me to address it?

Here is fine! Or a GitHub issue as well works

I would prefer that the extension would have a manual timezone option, where one could select, at the very least the standard UTC-00 option.

As well as an auto timezone sync. Google and Reddit both block me if my timezone does not match my IP address and if you would be able to fix that I think that would be spectacular. I do not expect you to solve my issues for me but I am explaining that their is a use case that exists.

I think it runs great, and it is coming from a more trustworthy source which I like, but even adding a manual option would be a great improvement. I have more quality improvement suggestions, but will reply when I remember them.

This ended up being close to perfect. Thank you.

How do I do this with Cromite?

I’m not familiar with Cromite, does it support extensions from the Chrome store? If so it should work.

It does. PG actually recommended Cromite for Android.

Geospoof does do auto timezone sync to match whichever geolocation you select in the extension.

I don’t currently support manual timezone overrides but maybe in the future if I get more requests for it. I’m afraid that may confuse people and I don’t really see the value in it

Auto sync with VPN would be great to have. Everytime you open the browser and the extensions load, auto sync would be great as you don’t need to remember to manually do it.

Is this possible?

Yes so auto-sync with VPN is possible but the reason I didn’t implement it is because it could result in too many network requests being spammed. I like the idea of this feature though so I can think more about an implementation strategy that is more event-driven and doesn’t spam network calls in the browser
