I doubt people are going to not buy a PC.Dex has been around for ages and I never saw anyone use it.

Plus, for your brain it’s better to use different devices for different things or you will not be able to focus on what you ought to be doing.

I thought they were developing Android desktop mode for this?

Is Aluminium going to be a whole new OS? To me, it doesn’t sound like it’s intending to replace mobile Android. It instead sounds like it’s going to use Android as a foundation for a desktop OS, similar to how WearOS uses Android as a foundation.

But it’s still a bit confusing to me though, cause as OP pointed out, its gonna be available across many “form factors,” not just desktop. If this is the case, then maybe they really are intending to replace mobile Android with this.

But I don’t think that implies they are working on a very advanced form of desktop mode (the thing I’d rather want) only that the OS will be available for many form factors.

If I confused anything, please correct me. I wish I were wrong, as I would love a very advanced desktop mode that doubles as my phone and PC.

What you’re asking was just discussed here yesterday. FYI.

We’ll just have to wait and see how Google chooses to proceed with this.
