What advantage comes with using Adguard for Safari on IOS over using a custom DNS via the Mullvad app? This on IOS.
I can’t seem to find an answer on my question if Adguard in this case is redundant or not.
If you can use the Mullvad DNS in the VPN app, actually that’s great just use that imo.
If you’re not using a VPN, yeah Adguard is like so far the only viable option, No Ublock origin of the likes.
So Adguard is redundant on IOS when using a reputable VPN-provider. When I look at the PG recommendations, I get the feeling that Adguard is a must have, no mention of if you use a custom DNS with proper blocklists.
Yeah iOS is a little limited but using the VPN’s provider would be better imo, especially myllvsd since their DNS does no logging whatsoever so it’s more private and has content filtering.
If you do have something like NextDNS, sure go for it but if I am not mistaken this is prone to DNS leaking unless Mullvad does a good job.
Adguard can work against ads and the like that are served from the first-party domain[1], whereas DNS-based blockers will never be able to catch those. Another thing you can do with Adguard is cosmetic element filtering by picking an element manually if it wasn’t already part of an included or active blocklist
yeah good point, my bad.
