Why is YubiKey 5C NFC cheaper than YubiKey 5C? It seems to me that they are the same key, just the cheaper has also NFC connectivity. It does not make sense: further features, but cheaper, USB-C YubiKey 5C Two-Factor Security Key | Yubico
I need to replace one of my keys, YubiKey 5 NFC, the USB head has so many scratches that it does not work. I am going to buy a new one. I thought about the YubiKey 5C NFCis longer than YubiKey 5Cbut way thinner. Any of you has both? which one fits better in a daily keyring?
maybe ask in the comments on the video itself but last time I tried…NFC on iPhone was just not working. Not sure if it was a me thing or what but I always needed to insert it manually (into the USB-C port).
the basic 5C NFC is bigger and the go-to, hence the price is different probably because they do produce more of those and hence it’s more of a demand/plastic mold/something else that makes it cheaper, not really a spec limit[1].
I do not have a 5C hence cannot comment on this one specifically. I am meanwhile quite satisfied with my 5C Nano, perfect for devices that stay at home[2] and quite sturdy as a whole.
I overall recommend getting some USB C because yes, USB A will not be very sturdy since it’s exposed.
You could maybe consider buying the Keyport pivot? I meanwhile do not recommend it because it’s quite a flimsy/weird key organizer, bought one and never really used it since.
because yes, specs wise they are literally the same ↩︎
paired with a 90 degree adapter to remove it slightly faster ↩︎
