Hi everyone, I wanted to ask experts on this topic.
I am looking for the best compromise between privacy and comfort with the mobile device. I have very little time and need something that works (i did try custom roms when i was younger but now is not the time).
I have been running pixel for the last 2 years or so and have been very happy with the device. My setup was very simple, rethink DNS with on device filter lists, wireguard, checking permissions and those apps that do not pass hagezi i would just use via browser. I have barely installed any third party apps. I do use proton for drive and email. For photos i relied on google photos. I am not comfortable with photo apps that are run by smaller companies as I do appreciate security of the big tech and proton did not release any standalone photos app.
I have switched to iphone now, basically the same setup (wireguard with nextdns) and e2ee icloud backup for photos. Although the per app firewall is not possible, again if the standard hagezi blocklist breaks an app, i will not use it.
I read through a lot of topics, but I wanted to see whether the latter setup does add any substantial improvements when it comes to everyday privacy or whether I am on the same level and should just go back to pixel. I have to say that although I was very happy with the pixel, if the feature was not running locally, I tried not to allow it, so the device was a bit nerfed in that way, which is a bummer, and it feels like with apple you dont have to worry about new feature completely rewriting your privacy agreement.
Thanks!
