Why this open source app is connecting google?!

I started using KDE connect yesterday and i was checking if it is being connected to internet by anymeans and i was shocked that it was connected to google, I discovered that using two apps Rethink DNS for android and TCPView for windows.

My question is why KDE connect is connecting to google?? And is it safe to use it in the terms of privacy and security??

Connecting to Google isn’t always bad.

For example, Signal servers are hosted on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.

It supposed to be 100% local file sending app that’s why connecting to internet is bad.

Then just block internet access for that app.

This seems like a question that I would ask at the KDE forums.

A quick search in the KDE Connect Android repo show tbat the only match seems to be… To check a list of supported Android devices for the app.

    private const val DEVICE_DATABASE = "https://storage.googleapis.com/play_public/supported_devices.csv"
