KOReader is a document viewer for E Ink devices. Supported fileformats include EPUB, PDF, DjVu, XPS, CBT, CBZ, FB2, PDB, TXT, HTML, RTF, CHM, DOC, MOBI and ZIP files. It’s available for Kindle, Kobo, PocketBook, Android and desktop Linux.
What do you think about it? Is it privacy-focused/privacy-focused? Are there any better alternatives beside PDFViewer?
Figured I’d respond instead of creating a new thread.
IMO it has proven to be a game-changer in the e-Ink tablet space.
For example, Kindles are the most popular e-Ink devices but also arguably have the worst privacy.
Once you jailbreak it, KO Reader allows for a much more functional device re: reading.
Not only that, it even allows SSH into your device for deeper customization/configuration. It is FOSS so you can audit the code and submit PRs if there is functionality you’d like to see.
It’s also actively maintained and by far the most popular reading app and is jam packed w/ features. As a FOSS community app, there’s little incentive for ads or tracking in it too.
