Approximate location works but it’s not really optional, the app just has to deal with it of you don’t use precise location. They really don’t have a choice if they want to support it or not.

You mean Apple forces them to support it ? On Android you can give approx. location permission to all apps, but many will them claim you didn’t give them any location access.

Just tested it out and approximate location works.

This is what I do, but some places in the world might not have that information in a decent website.
