We at Tuta see a 148% surge in new paying customers - thanks to communities like yours! šŸŽ‰

Tuta Drive is being worked on, and we are constantly improving the interface (the calendar has seen a lot of nice updates recently). About PGP: We’d like to support Autocrypt, but right now we are busy improving TutaCypt (our quantum-safe encryption protocol).

We do have a family option: Introducing the Tutanota Family Option! | Tuta

Please note that each user will cost €36/year and each gets 20 GB of storage, so most likely Revolutionary is the better option in your case.

Aliases are supported, but we need to work on making the management of aliases more convenient. It’s important to note, that with your own domain, you can use an unlimited number of aliases!

Is it possible to add Holidays and a year overview to the calendar?

With any paid plan, you can sync external calendars like holidays. A year overview is not yet available, but I’ll pass this on to the developers, thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for your feedback. We’re constantly fixing issues with the current version, but it’s simply not there yet to make it official. We’re sorry about that, but I’ll bring it up with the developers again!

Congratulations to 11 years! I’ve been with you since 2016, and I love what you’re doing!

In fact, I just decided to sign up for Legend because I want to use the Drive you’re working on, and also because I want to see you growing, Since Drive isn’t there yet, and I don’t have any immediate advantage from this yet, I mean this more as a token of appreciation and trust.

Please continue what you’re doing!

Thank you very much that’s highly appreciated. But we recommend to buy Tuta only because of existing features, not promised ones; just wanting to make sure that there’s no disappointment at any time. - But we are working on Drive, though no ETA right now.

Is there any plan for a desktop IMAP bridge?

I have to manage multiple email accounts for personal, work, and volunteer commitments, and the only way it’s manageable is when they’re in the same desktop client.

The lack of support for other desktop clients is quite literally the only thing that’s keeping me from using Tuta. My subscription with Mailbox.org is up soon and I’m looking to switch.

Just curious, how did you like Mailbox.org? Why do you want to switch?

I’m always looking for different email services to try and have looked at this one before so what a perfect time to get your thoughts on it.

By the way, Tuta does offer their own desktop app like ProtonMail. But I agree that having IMAP is nice to have for other apps.

Well, it is also because of the very long relationship with you guys. Additionally, I give you credits for properly solving a tricky tech issue with me recently. So, it’s not just the promised features.

Happy to hear that!

Mailbox is fine, but development moves at a glacial pace, even for important features.

Their 2FA implementation is bizarre, and they have no ability to issue ā€˜one-time’ passwords for IMAP clients. You just have to leave your master password enabled and use that - single factor only. This is not secure.

When I signed up in 2021 they had acknowledged this was not a good setup and were working on an updated authentication / 2FA system.

Actual 2FA finally went into beta testing a few months ago but who knows when it’ll actually be fully implemented. It’s 2025. This pace of development for crucial security features is unacceptable.

Also the web interface is slow and the configuration menus nested within it are a mess, but I don’t interact with that much so it’s not a big deal for me. Not having a real 2FA system with a secure way to access IMAP is.

Thanks for the reply. I always like to hear from actual people who have tried the service to get a better perspective. Saves me from going through the same thing. So I’ll mark Mailbox.org off my list of services to try.

I was hoping to hear a reply from Tuta about adding IMAP in the future. I’m not sure their service is setup to do that plus they like to keep privacy at a high level which is a good thing even though IMAP is convenient. Like I said before, using their desktop app may be the closest you’ll get to using an external app.

Well done tuta team, honestly a great product. When I adopted the privacy journey the one feature that attracted me to consider tuta over proton was the ability to turn of the default signature branding. Although, I appreciate with the concept of marketing without harming privacy for free accounts, this would still look bad in a professional setting. I couldn’t afford premium tier at that time but now I can. This also kept me as a long customer of tuta & now Iam also considering of upgrading.
