Veracrypt partition stopped working (decrypts but wouldn't mount)

I have an old HDD with FDE using Veracrypt from the Windows 7 days. I tried accessing it yesterday with Tails, worked, all 3 partitions (boot, partition 1 where I had the OS, and partition 2 with a bunch of data) were working

Today, boot, partition 1 work, but partition 2 gives this error:

“wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/tcrypt_somenumber here, missing codepage or helper program, or other error.”

The password is correct, it decrypts, as the other 2 partition, but this one wouldn’t mount. So im hoping this is a filesystem related problem, and that the data is still accessible.

I have tried accessing it directly by login into the disk with Veracrypt Bootloader where you enter the password as I used to do before I moved to Linux, and decrypts fine, the problem is, I have no mouse or keyboard input. When it logs into Windows 7, no keyboard or mouse, they are not even powered up. From what im reading, my computer is now too modern and lacks the drivers. I have tried to plug them into the USB2.0 ports, same thing. This screen shows up:

And then after that, I select the repair option, it loads the next screen where you are asked the next steps to repair but I have no mouse or keyboard to do anything… so yeah.

I have tried with f8 to launch in symbol mode to try to run chkdsk or something, but it restarts.

Im considering buying one of these USB to SATA adapters on amazon to plug the drive into the laptop which is a windows 7 laptop era, and try to perform the repair there. Should be easier than trying to do this from Linux, hopefully that fixes that partition and it mounts.

Does anyone know if these devices are safe? for instance, something like this:

Im worried this may store my password for Xi or something.. as all of that is made in china so who knows. I guess it’s safe. Well the idea is, try to perform Windows 7 native repairs there and see what happens. I mean encryption level, it does decrypt, but something happened with that partition. Yesterday I remember Tails froze like 2 times and I had to hard reboot, perhaps one of these broke something. I should have instantly backed up everything. Well now I have to hopefully fix this. Any advice please let me know.

edit: found this, saving it here to test later

But I think first I should try to boot in Windows and use the native tools like chdsk but I want to ask if these USB to SATA devices are safe to plug in your drives.

Imo if you pick a good one like icy dock then it is quite safe for short term usage.
