Error while creating FDE veracrypt-tails

Hello, I was trying to do full disk encryption by veracrypt in tails to my 2Tb HDD external drive. But by formating in wizard I got squashfs errors and my tails turned off. Formating was only around 0.6%.

Will I be able to use this disk somehow or it’s only to trash now? :sob: I see I can decrypt one partition but I can’t use it, system sees now only some errors. I got partition1 2.0TB VeraCrypt unlocked and below that 2.0 TB Encrypted? Which I can’t unlock, also my file manager can’t decrypt that bcs I have error operation not permitted. I was able to use disk before encrypting process.

Also how I can solve squashfs problem, it was happening to me sometimes before when I was using 2 USB slots (1 tails and 1 USB cable)

If I just format and try again will it help or I loose something or it won’t work?

I don’t know wtf any of that means

Looks like disk failure

I am not sure how you are formatting? In my experience doing it with dd can resolve some issues sometimes.

When i try to create disk encryption by veracrypt after imputing password it says formating (pretty long process, around 10h says)

Right well maybe you should format the disk before using veracrypt

I formated before, trying again, but this veracrypt volume format can’t be skipped anyway

So much wasted money, can’t even use it for one file now

I had problems with veracrypt, maybe it’s not best for tails, but managed to do it with built in LUKS.

But is LUKS any better or worse than veracrypt, what is difference? Will it be better than veracrypt in context of FDE?
