Somebody with more knowledge then me could better answer this but, I would assume not having admin rights would not be a huge hindrance to a ransomware attack as regular users typically have access to lots of the folders and files you would not want encrypted.
The saving grace could be that the ransomware may not be able to access backups but I am not 100% on that.
This is all assuming you have the UAC set properly and didn’t just run the virus as an admin anyway.
