I doubt they have as many users. And they recently limited the storage per repo to 1GB or something (need to apply for more).
Signal is currently mainly funded by WhatsApp founder. But this can’t last. I really don’t see how premium features take away from FOSS.
But this might be better as merged with Financial side of privacy-focused FOSS software and projects
