Tuta/Tutanota, has launched the most significant security upgrade of Tuta Mail with TutaCrypt. This post-quantum encryption protocol will secure emails with a hybrid protocol combining state-of-the-art quantum-safe algorithms with traditional algorithms (AES/RSA) making Tuta Mail the world’s first email provider that can protect emails from quantum computer attacks.
Tuta Mail enables TutaCrypt, a protocol to exchange messages using quantum-safe encryption.
All new? How does that translate? Only new accounts? Confusing.
LE: I read on, it seems it will gradually roll on for the existing users as well.
My take, as a primary tuta user:
unimpressed, sooo many “normal” missing and pending things to be done (proper conversation threads, mail import, dated and crying for a facelift UI to name a few).
But I guess they had to show something for the grant they received.
Still an uncomfortable position, especially considering that there is no safe backdoor. One hacker could steal the backdoor, and enable it for everyone and read thousands of emails before this is fixed. Not to mention the possibility of law enforcement>
