The WRONG Way to Delete Personal Info Online | All Things Secured

This was one of my concerns why I never wanted to use such services. Basically giving all my details to a company to make other companies remove them.
Also, I don’t know what it is but I have never been able to trust Nord security products. And now incogni proved my instincts right.

(The person did mention that the video is sponsored by DeleteMe which does compromise the integrity of the content but still incogni issue is real)

Well, these automated services have of course their drawbacks. But in practice, fully removing non-public data from data brokers is impossible without direct contact (performed by a removal service or yourself). I’m not saying using these automated services is your only option, but for sure the most convenient one.

What is actual correct, is that under the GDPR, EU companies must document data removal requests. This obligation is based on the accountability and data minimization principles of Article 5(2), while Article 30 mandates maintaining records of processing activities. Although the GDPR does not specify a retention period, the EDPB guidelines suggest keeping these records for up to six years.

Many people fail to recognize this factor, which is one major reason why these data removal services are less useful within the EU.
