If your project has a legal entity behind it (a registered business or charity) then accepting funding in XMR could get complicated.

The idea is for it to be a marketing stunt to get attention, regarding the “Shame”.
They also want native implementations over proxy store to not only allow people to pay with Monero, but also for these frontier privacy services to leverage their platforms to raise awareness. Imagine what native XMR payments from Proton would do for Monero awareness, I think it would be huge. Financial privacy is just as important as all the rest, and it’s being largely ignored by these services.
I think the language is quite provocative on the site though, I feel as if the community is sick of being ignored. They are like, how can Signal be a state of the art, go to privacy tool, if it doesn’t even accept Monero for donations, and moreover, rolled MobileCoin. It just feels like a slap in the face.
But Monero is really successful, isn’t it?
If you mean in terms of use, yeah it’s the most used cryptocurrency for day to day transactions, that’s what the data is consistently showing. Any service that takes various sorts of crypto, XMR always blows everything out of the water. But if you’re suggesting that’s good enough and it should end there I disagree.
