good afternoon everyone. This week I have been testing Fedora Workstation. It’s my first time using a non-Windows system, but I switched to GrapheneOS a few months ago, so I wanted to try something new on my PC as well. I still have Windows 11 installed on another partition on the same ssd because I sometimes use Civil3D and Texas Instruments software, so my idea is to use fedora for everything else and windows only when I need to get into Civil3D. However, the disk manager only allowed me to create a 20gb partition, even though I have 220gb available on my hard drive, I even did a complete format in windows and I have nothing but the system itself. I would like to ask here if there is any way to expand that partition or if anyone knows why that limit, since I plan to use fedora for my personal stuff and I only have 7gb free after installing the system and the apps I use the most. thanks.
Windows partition can be extended using windows disk manager. Right click on C: will show option for extension.
To expand Fedora you need to boot live environment. Use Gparted or Command line method.
I found the cause of not being able to expand the fedora partition and it is because the free space is not right next to the partition, I tried some options to move it but I could not (the boot partition is between the free space and the fedora partition).
While multiboot its safe to install windows first then linux distros. You can create a backup and just start from scratch if you didn’t started hardening/configuring it after installation.
