Startmail yes or no

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking into privacy-focused email providers and came across StartMail. I’m considering using it, but I’ve noticed that it’s often not included in recommended lists on this forum, and I’m not entirely sure why.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who are currently using StartMail or have used it in the past.

  • What are your overall experiences with it?

  • How does it compare to other privacy-focused email providers?

  • In your opinion, how strong is it in terms of privacy and security?

  • Are there any specific drawbacks or concerns that people should be aware of?

  • Why do you think it’s sometimes not listed among the “top” privacy email services?

From what I understand, it has some solid privacy features, but there may be trade-offs that I’m missing.

It doesn’t pass the criteria PG has in place.

Please research this forum. There is useful info you’ll find on this I’m sure. But to answer your question quickly anyway, I personally prefer the Proton suite. I feel it works better and is worth it for all that it offers if you do use most of it enough. StartMail doesn’t provide this for me.

It doesn’t encrypt your messages at rest I believe.
