Signal only allows Google to index their site

Signal has now moved away from offering an open knowledge base to only allowing Google Search to index its site while pissing off the hundreds of alternative search engines. I guess this was a naive attempt at foiling scrapist bots operated by commercial dissociated press text generators which probably don’t even follow the robot exclusion standard anyway.

What an L.

Can’t other search engines just ignore that robots.txt anyway? IMO they should

So they only restricted their forum but left up the support domains and the main webpage?

The Brave Search web crawler uses the same user agent as Google Search to prevent discrimination. See here.

edit: replied to wrong post, my bad.

This has been always the case tho. I always didn’t find https://community.signalusers.org/ in Google search results.

I would prefer if you would use a bit less hostile use of language. Calling people normies edges too the toxic side, those folks using whatsapp may not even know what risks they may or may not take by using it, everyone has to start somewhere on their privacy journey.
