Signal appearing with unknown Notes app in RethinkDNS (HyperOS)

Checking through my apps in RethinkDNS, I found that Signal seems to be linked to an unknown Notes app that doesn’t appear in the settings. Attempting to tap it in order to go to its settings page immediately closes the settings app and boots me right back to RethinkDNS. I have a lot of questions regarding this “Notes” App:

  • What exactly is it?

  • Why doesn’t it appear in the app list in the settings app?

  • Why is its network permissions linked to Signal?

  • What do I do about it?

If it helps, I am on a heavily debloated HyperOS phone version 2.0.207.0. When I first set up RethinkDNS post debloat this package was not present when I gave Signal the necessary network permissions required for it to function. I’d rather not jump to conclusions regarding the package and what it does but it is very suspicious this “Notes” app is here in the first place.

    Hoping for a swift response!

You’ve probably changed Signal’s app icon to “Notes”

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think this screenshot will explain this situation better than I will.

When I tap Notes it will just attempt to redirect me to the app info settings page but it redirects me right back to this page. In contrast, tapping Signal will open its respective app info in the settings without problem.

I think it is a duplicate entry, like a shortcut icon to spoof Signal app ?

Okay so I managed to fix it by uninstalling Signal then reinstalling it. I still find it strange that it happened in the first place.
