Should i make Ente Auth online or offline?

Henry talked about Ente Auth as his main solution in term of 2FA section beside owning a Yubikey but I am little confused as Should i make Ente account for better usability or should i proceed without backup? Is making account and syncing my seeds using Ente Auth affect on my privacy in a critical way??

My nightmare is losing all my 2FA backups and Ente Auth sounds like a solution but does it worth it?

no. But obviously you create another attack vector. Whether you should use it is a highly personal question that no one but you can answer. Like often said here on the form this depends on your thread model.

It is a good solution, if you should use it depends. If you do make sure you can log in to Ente some way when you can’t get hold of any of your current your current devices.

I would keep it offline and just have regular full device backups.

You can’t be sure a device backup will include all data on it (at least on iOS). Signal excludes themselves from iTunes and iCloud backups for example. Even if Auth does intend to include themselves, this is worrying at the moment:

Using the sync feature is not a replacement for backups. You should do that regardless.
