Session is bringing back PFS, and adding in Post Quantum!! This is amazing and is moving Session into my personal regular recommendation list since it now solves the phone number issue that people complain about with Signal, while having similar security to Signal again.
That’s awesome! Will be watching, hopefully they get an audit once it’s finished.
Session is going to look a lot stronger on Software Compare after this. Kudos to the team!
I feel Session may really struggle to scale until it introduces an actual monetization scheme. Charging for running a node (that already costs the hardware) without some kind of reward will hold it back greatly. It can turn into a strength (incentivization) if a monetization scheme is developed, but for now it’s extremely expensive with very little reward.
I do hope the team can figure it out, as I feel this kind of decentralized scheme is the best way forward when it comes to providing people true privacy.
This is all great news, but I would really like to see some basic features implemented into Session. Features like rich text formatting, and the ability to create groups where I am the only member.
Finally! About time they listened, I’ll give session a try when this comes out and definitely make a pseudonym public contact account and maybe even a private one
Very nice win for us! ![]()
Hyped to see more details coming shortly. ![]()
It’s not advisable to share any personal information, just as what you are gonna do in Session or if you are planning to use Session. Those information provide a greater attack surface when actually using these services as attackers now know how you use those.
Almost Everyone knows I have a signal and SimpleX they can contact me on and personal things remain private. This is okay.
I always advise against persistent pseudonyms and public contacts if anonymity is a goal but for me anonymity was never my goal, it’s separation of identity
I am glad they finally decided that it indeed is needed. Sadly it took so many years to convince them, they should have never removed PFS.
Now lets await the audit and see how it unfolds.
