Reason: If I comment on something I see or did that is online, posting about it right away can in theory allow deanonymisation, or at least correlation with other identities.
What?!
How are you even anonymization here? I’m not sure what is even prompting you to ask this?
This seems really unlikely unless the something you saw or did is very particular to you and you have also already provided other hints about your identity on the site. Which would be more of an issue of bad OPSEC.
Thats all to say, I don’t think the reason holds much water but I would be in favor of the feature.
We don’t build features for discourse, so this is not the right place to request such features.
You can pre write your text in a notes app and post it after some time
Or maybe making a “bot” that automatically posts for you.
Or you can write posts, and save them as drafts for later, though I do understand the appeal of scheduled messages providing an experience one does not have to “think” about.
If this is your threat model, post through an anonymous account (new one per thread) and strategically with anonymized speech. Such data points mostly matter if you can correlate time zones, so keeping replies within a 1 hour block may decrease correlation.
Or to be more simple, don’t post at all and just lurk. If you are trying to not correlate your PG username to a time zone, don’t use a real account.
It’s fine honestly I am just trying to preserve some anonymity on this account, but yeah I guess I will just have to wait before posting
Yes, this is what I said
I just wanted to point to the in built draft functionality provided by discourse/this forum, which I sometimes use as a stand in for scheduling posts.
My intention was not to come off as a duplicate of you post.
Ok, now I understand
