Reuters: Israel planted explosives in 5,000 Hezbollah's pagers

I do find it easier to believe that Israel could’ve put normal bombs into normal pagers than that they have a mythical device that can target any device and make it instantly explode, yes.

Of course i may be incorrect, but currently there isn’t evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that this was a 100% supply chain attack beyond rumors; because everyone keeps thinking batteries/lithium can’t possibly do that much damage so mustve been planted but yes thats just a rumor. Until completely proven, keep an open mind what electromagnetic warfare could potentially do. Cybersecurity? no, more like Wavesecurity. WW3 won’t be fought with nukes, tomorrow’s wars will be fought with advanced electromagnetic frequencies which are currently top secret. that’s my last comment. I just needed to say something because i know they dont want it spoken.

Because it’s true. Any modern LiIon cell has a predetermined breaking point to make sure that they do not build up enough pressure to explode - they “vent with flame” instead.

This is what venting with flame looks like:

Despite the title this is not an explosion. You will usually survive this with 3rd degree burns but without a hole in your body or limbs blown off.

And before anyone suggests they could have used “special” cells without these safeties - at this point it’s easier to just put real explosives into the devices. They will do a lot more damage.

Although far from perfect, supply chain is one benefit of Apple products. Anyone can buy an Apple device cash from a physical store making it difficult for an adversary to predict exactly which machine you would end up with.
Out of town Apple stores are even better.

Some off-topic comments have been removed. This topic really has run its course, the main relevance to our community was that this was not really a “cybersecurity” issue as some news outlets originally led some to believe. Moving beyond that into geopolitical discussions is really too far beyond the scope of this forum
