Lessons from the Israel pager attack

This is a very interesting read about hardware supply chain attacks, about all the ways we can be tracked by our smartphones and about examples in which “dumb” devices and tactics have worked against skilled adversaries (Israel’s and USA’s armies).

Of course, that is the drawback with with low-tech communications: you are much more vulnerable to these supply chain issues. Pagers, motorcycle couriers, and even carrier pigeons are vulnerable to other forms of compromise.

Usability Usable privacy in these situations can be achieved if everyone assumes they are being listened to or tracked at all times. Regardless of the method utilized for communication.
