I’ve been using Rethink’s local blocklists for a while, but I’ve noticed that there haven’t been any updates for several months. Is this just a problem on my end or are the lists not being updated?
The updates are not going through because our account with our infrastructure provider (which hosts the blocklists) has been “locked” (due to security/legal/abuse reasons) for quite a while now (4mo+).[1] We push 60TB+/mo traffic and it isn’t easy to switch to any other provider without a significant increase in costs (we were already at $1000+/mo).
An appeal process is on-going (but things are slow and opaque). Once that’s resolved, newer blocklist updates (which are automated and happen once every 8 days) should roll out. The last successful blocklist update should continue to be served.
We’ve been recently told that a resolution is near. Unclear if it will be a positive outcome. ↩︎

60TB /mo is really not that much for an online service, anyway, is it possible to host it on places like Proton Drive? I dont see traffic limits in the TOS. Not sure if it is possible to download files
directly without touching any browser elements.
