They allow high configuration with unlimited requests, unlike NextDNS that in the free layer is limited to 300,000 queries.
What do you think?

rdns dev here
Both the server and the Android client are fully open source, too. We’re currently working on a low-cost DNS resolver (500million/reqs for $1 as opposed to $100 that it costs us today), as traffic has substantially ramped up in the recent months (around ~5k reqs/sec, right now).
(in fact, the deployments are “open” as well: ⛅ CF · Workflow runs · serverless-dns/serverless-dns · GitHub)
Doesn’t Privacy Guides already recommend this, or is this asking RethinkDNS to be in a subcategory it isn’t already in? I’m pretty sure it’s the former, so I think this should be marked as completed
Already listed prior to this topic creation:
I see this is a suggestion to add RethinkDNS to the Cloud-Based DNS Filtering section of the website. Currently we only recommend RethinkDNS as an app to connect to other DNS providers. We should re-evaluate RethinkDNS including their cloud-based services.
(Sorry if I might not have much to say in this reply)
@jonah So in other words, you want us to..Rethink DNS?
Also, has @ignoramous been unbanned yet? I think they would be pretty helpful in this topic
As far as I know nothing prevents him from posting here, but I haven’t heard from him recently. Getting a bit off topic though.
No I would disagree here as someone who has started using the app
while it is True that it connects to others and Rethink on the cloud. All of the operations such as the logs and on-device blocklists, are that, on-device
I think what Rethink does is just routes DNS and Proxies through a VPN Tunnel in an app. While it is true that they have their own Cloud Based DNS, it’s not really something like NextDNS and Control D.
It’s complicated but I think it should stay where it is for this reason.
Moreover, the blocklists in the cloud and local ones of Rethink haven’t been updating for months, For these reason.
hmm
what year is version 24.10 (02) I presume it’s as suspected from the version number which is 2024 (October?), Interesting to note, but honestly while I hope I see this resolved, I don’t see any other solution outside of netguard but netguard is exclusively firewall, it can’t also add proxies/wireguard, firewall and encrypted dns the same time so there’s that. Or maybe some competition would be great yeah.
