ReSearch about s3drive

Hey everyone,

I’ve been looking into S3-compatible storage clients for Linux and came across S3Drive. It seems like an interesting alternative to tools like rclone, especially for people who want a more “Google Drive–like” experience.

From what I understand:

  • It supports S3 providers (Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, etc.)
  • Has a GUI + sync + mount features built-in
  • Offers end-to-end encryption (E2EE) before upload
  • Works across platforms (including Linux)

So I wanted to ask:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Has anyone here audited or reviewed S3Drive from a privacy/security standpoint?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: How trustworthy is its encryption implementation?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Would you consider it safe to use with sensitive data, or better to stick with open tools like rclone?
