Remove Brave

what do you mean by ties even? Because they received money ten years ago from Founders Fund where Thiel is one of the founders? They invest in like thousands of companies.. doesn’t really mean much - and for sure doesn’t mean Thiel has any control over Brave

This was from a firm before the browser’s inception that he had ties to. Which there’s probably literally hundreds of them out there. I’d be genuinely surprised if Thiel even knew that Brave existed to be quite honest with you.

If we predicated our product choices on avoiding anyone with even a tangential link to a morally questionable figure, most of us would be left with nothing to use. Especially one from well over a decade ago. I’m not sure what is driving it, but there seems to be a deluge of algorithmic churn on YouTube filled with misleading distortions regarding Brave. Try not to pay any attention to someone’s sponsored browser tier list.

It seems that this week popular topic from Lemmy is spilling here.

I’ll only repeat a question that was made, what Chromium based browser alternative do we have to Brave for desktops?

Trivalent is only available for SecureBlue and in a long stretch RedHat based distros.

Ungoogled Chromium has some technical disadvantages.

Helium is based of UC.

Vivaldi has an UI closed source.

DDG browser is not available for Linux.

As much it hurts me advocating for Brave, unless I’m missing something we need to be pragmatic. If we don’t have an answer for the question, people that needs a Chromium browser alternative to Chrome only have the proven open source Brave browser as an option. If one have an answer or a technical reason to disqualify Brave then we can discuss otherwise is just another day of people arguing without reasoning on the internet.
