I think people are misunderstanding the intentions of this topic. IDK why I have to restate this.
I was suggesting recommending apple products for the average person. Apple’s products are already excellent in the areas that they compete in (and there is a high chance that they are using a iDevice).
There are might be better alternative to many apple products that has a huge focus on privacy and security. However, they come with compromises. For the average person, apple offer privacy focus features without the concern of loosing comfort/convenience.
If you are a person who prefer privacy-respecting alternatives to popular tools, and advocate for the right to privacy you are more than welcome to use them. However, most people aren’t in this position to sacrifice spending time, energy to use them when there is clearly a better way to do this.
Many other companies offer similar products and services. However, the main differences being Apple has a better track record, has privacy as one of its ‘values’ and has more privacy-oriented features. I am not saying apple is comparable to a company like proton (at least not yet), however apple is miles ahead compare to Google, Facebook Meta, Microsoft etc.
I made a different iOS vs Android topic to offer a different place to compare iOS to google android and varies android forks. Since it got brought up in here, and it is make sense to discuss in a different topic. Android and iOS are both great platforms with their own flaws and drawbacks, but also with their own unique abilities and advantages. One platform works better for one person, the other better for another. With that said, I think comparisons are a good idea as it pointing out flaws in each platform, as long as discussions stay civilised.
Thank you for understanding.
