To be pedantic, DNS is a protocol, and is a tech spec. A DNS Server can block malicious domains. It definitely won’t speed up your internet - your ISP controls that (among other factors, won’t go into detail). At best, by blocking malicious domains, you might load some web pages faster as there is less to load, but that isn’t quite the same.
