As @JG mentioned, please keep on using Signal for the sake of the rather limited network effect it has. No point using a messenger if nobody uses it…right? If decentralization matters more for you, perhaps you can look into other alternatives like Matrix, Briar, or SimpleX. Yes, these apps are not the most polished in terms of user experience, but are there really other alternatives out there?
If you do have specific usage cases, let us know. Matrix could be a good Discord and Slack alternative for example, but SimpleX is great if you really do not want account registration and are planning to contact a specific person. For example, if you’re planning to “force” them to migrate to SimpleX and only chat with them there.
