Proton finally pays attention to Linux apps? What a shocker. There is an unfortunate caveat though.
Split tunneling is only available for Proton VPN’s official Fedora and Ubuntu apps. It is not currently supported on its Flatpak app or Debian 12. However, Debian 12 support is coming soon.
About time. One thing about Proton’s implementation that looks interesting is that it sounds like it allows you to add apps to a split tunneling list so that they automatically launch in split tunneling every time, unlike Mullvad and iVPN which require you to manually launch apps from their VPN apps each time if you want them to split tunnel.
A surprise of course. Proton does almost never prioritize Linux. For instance I would like to see a Proton Drive version that allowed to sync a directory in Linux. It would be awesome if that directory could be synced to android too.
Too expensive for a service that lacks essential features, a shame. But they will create a wallet and a LLM because its fun even when nobody asked for.

It’s also in the working, no eta though.
We’ve also released an early preview of the software development kit (SDK) that powers Proton Drive 2.0 for macOS — and will support our upcoming Linux Drive app.
Since Proton provides a Wireguard endpoint and public key all it takes is to specify the IPs that should be tunneled in the config file of the interface. I don’t see how this is a new feature.
