"private" way to sign up to things like tailscale?

Hey all

So, I was wondering what would be the most private way to sign up for tailscale without setting up my own OIDC?
And straight wireguard isn’t really doable, GCNAT unfortunately

i’m aware it’s been over a year for this, but here’s what i found while trying to do the same. you will need to temporarily provide an sso login.

  1. sign up with sso of your choosing, doesn’t matter, you’ll delete it after
  2. set up your tail net etc.
  3. in your admin console, invite a new user
  4. when you invite, use the invite link and then click on “sign in with passkey”
  5. this’ll let you create a new passkey tailnet instead of an sso one, save the passkey in pw manager of choice, i use bitwarden
  6. remove this passkey tailnet from the sso one, then delete the sso account in the settings

Is sign up required if headscale is set up on a server in a local network behind CGNAT?

One other way is just to create fake outlook/gmail accounts. That’s what I did.

Don’t do github, as it flags you as a robot and it’s a pain.
