Android Gaming Handhelds, at least in my point of view, have been getting somewhat popular, and will probably get more popular over time. Products like the Retroid Pocket and Ayn Thor are certainly attractive from their form factor, similar to PC handhelds like the steam deck or ASUS ROG Ally. Though I’m curious, from a privacy and security perspective, how good/bad are they? For example, basic update support to the latest Android version can be inconsistent and short regarding just Android phones. Are Android handhelds any better?
As another example, and what got me to post this in the first place, Linux bistros targeting these handhelds have been cropping up. Ones that I know of are Rocknix and Armada. Disregarding the individual distros themselves, would a jump from Android to true* Linux offer similar privacy and security benefits as to jumping from Windows to Linux?
*“True” in a sense that while Android is derived from Linux, it is considered a different thing most of the time.
