Posts marked read while signed out even with Brave forgetful browsing

I usually browse the forum signed out and only sign in if I have a contribution , i use Brave and have Forgetful browsing set ON , yet even when i’m signed out it keeps track of opened posts , and I just noticed the same issue on another forum running Discourse , who should I contact to fix this ?

How exactly do you mean here? What do you mean keeps track?

As I understand it, forgetful browsing deletes cookies. It doesn’t delete browsing history and other site data along with it. For that, you need to configure this in the settings if you want everything deleted between browser restarts.

Forgetful Browsing | Brave , they seem to delete more than just cookies , but something is still slipping

You’re still not answering. How exactly do you mean by keeps track?

I thought the picture was self explanatory , my bad , you can see some links are grey which means they have been opened before

Try setting forgetful browsing, then deleting all history, site data, everything, and then reboot your browser. And test again. But the second time you quit and reopen the browser, don’t delete everything. This should tell us if forgetful browsing is still working.

I still feel because it doesn’t delete browsing history, the website will still infer that someone in the previous browsing session has opened the link because the URL of the links greyed out are present in the browser history. I could be wrong in thinking so but someone else can correct me.

Try this out again.

I have Brave set to delete all data on browser exit , and Brave Frogetful browsing works for all other sites and when i close the forum it logs me out so it’s deleting the cookie , but the post read status is still slipping .
I serisouly doubt websites have access to browser history that would be a privacy nightmare

It’s the other way around. Your browser is remembering history.

But if you have set it to delete everything from all time upon every browser reboot + you have forgetful browsing enabled, then it should absolutely work.

I’m stumped if it is not working still.

It’s the browser remembering, not the website.
