Newb having problems setting up of Orbot in Android

I’m pretty new to all of this and have been trying to setup orbot as a socks5 proxy to use with Molly app. I have searched for clear instructions on how to set this up but havent been able to find them anywhere so I have come here with hopes you can help.

I have it set up like this:

Outbound network proxy:

Outbound Proxy type: Socks5

Outbound Proxy Host: 127.0.0.1

Outbound Proxy Port: 9050

Proxy Username and Password: Blank

Power User Mode: Selected

Built in obsf4 selected

When I try to connect it usually says “Connecting… Alternate route established” But never actually connects. Im at a loss. I’d like to know what all the settings mean and how to use them. Can’t find any answers. An in depth tutorial or instruction manual doesnt exist I suppose. I already have a vpn that I like so I want to use it as socks5 proxy. Help?

Orbot → Orbot settings → General → Power User Mode

Molly → Settings → Network → Use proxy → Tor via Orbot

Enable Orbot and click on “Check Connection” in Molly it should say “Online,” and you should have a green shield in Molly if Orbot is connected.

Reset Orbot if you have played too much with Orbot’s settings without knowing what they do.

Android Settings → Apps → Orbot → Shorage & cache → clear shorage

I would keep Orbot in VPN mode only for the apps you actually want to route through Tor, not for the whole phone at first. In Android, open Orbot → VPN Mode, then use the app selection list and enable something simple like your browser; leave banking, work apps, and push-notification-heavy apps off it. If nothing loads, check whether Android already has another VPN active, because only one VPN slot can be used at a time. Also expect some apps to break or ask for extra checks through Tor, so it is normal to use it selectively rather than as a permanent all-app setting.
