New "Smart" AI Settings Turned On in Gmail last month

Did anyone notice that Google turned on AI feature in gmail? I just learned about this on an IG post. Supposedly Google let loose a new AI tool in Gmail last month. It’s found in two settings in the Gmail ‘all settings, “turn on smart features in Gmail, chat and meet” and “Google Workspace Smart Features.” Google turned it by default for you all.

Why isn’t this bigger news?

I have accounts that are 20-30 years old including some belonging to deceased family members. I’ve been slowly moving over to Proton but disturbed I still have to babysit my gmail accounts.

This isn’t bigger news because most people don’t appear to care as much as folks on here. And this isn’t big news here because most people here are privacy conscious and don’t have a Google account to begin with (anymore at-least).

If you still have it, I recommend you download all your emails and data and delete your account in full.

Nothing good from a privacy POV should be expected from Google. So this doesn’t really make it as news.
