Mullvad VPN - Automatically connect a nearby server

Not sure if my mind is making this up, but I vaguely remember Mullvad adding a “Connect to the nearest server” feature a few updates ago. I’m in a place with slow internet connection these days, so I thought I could make use of this feature but I can’t find it anywhere on the app (neither on Linux nor iOS).

Does such a feature actually exist?

Also, does proximity even make a difference in speed? (Did a little testing myself, and I think it does make a bit of a difference, but I thought I’d get others’ input)

Yes. Simple physics. The closer the server, the faster the ping and hence the connection.

It might not affect throughput, but it absolutely affects latency.

So, for things like downloading large files, proximity of server matters less since only the throughput matters in that case,

but If you are playing multiplayer games, browsing web, you will feel the lower responsiveness if you choose server that is farther away.

I’m not sure about whether mullvad feature exist for auto connecting closest server.
