Simple search engine that proxies either Brave or Google
Why I think this tool should be added
In Incognito Mode/Private Browsing, you can use it without AI results by default. To my knowledge, Mullvad Leta doesn’t have CAPTCHAs, so it’s easier to use it with VPNs. Lastly, their search query caching feature helps limit direct calls to Google or Brave search, and when Leta is restarted, previous search queries are no longer visible to Mullvad
I messaged support and they said that Leta will never be a paid service, even if it was originally intended to compliment Mullvad VPN.
Leta is a search engine. You can use it to return search results from many locations. We provide text search results, currently we do not offer image, news or any other types of search result. Leta acts as a proxy to Google and Brave search results. You can select which backend search engine you wish to use from the homepage of Leta.
Mullvad Leta would also be the only search engine in PG recommendations that has been recently audited, which doesn’t seem to be the case for other providers. At least I couldn’t find anything regarding Brave Search or DuckDuckGo, and StartPage doesn’t have anything recent other than their audit in 2007.
