We are excited to introduce Shadowsocks obfuscation for WireGuard, aimed at helping users bypass firewalls and censorship. This new feature is available on the desktop and Android apps and will come to iOS later. -Mastodon
They also released DAITA for android.
Meanwhile ProtonVPN’s Linux client still has really bad design and isn’t as reliable as Mullvads one.
Is the shadowsocks for wireguard only accessible via the app? anyone got this working on CLI or a router?
yes!
mullvad obfuscation set mode shadowsocks
Has anyone enebled shadowsocks yet?
Any expieriences so far?
actually shadowsocks not useful, at least for me, and for democracy countries, just wireguard can bypass all isp firewalls and censorship, for dictatorship, shadowsocks very sucks, as a general protocol it so common and can be detected, only useful when local network (IPLC/IEPL), for encryption proxy protocol https://v2.hysteria.network/ is a better choice, it can be bypass russian/china/iran firewalls and censorship, and faster
I’ve spoken to mullvad, and they do not currently have a solution for router level shadowsocks, but will most likely provide this in future.
For me at least, I wanted to install on openwrt or pfsense.
I was hoping that I could use shadowsocks on the router level so all the house can circumvent the bs that disney dish out. It seems they err on the side of cautious and cast a wide net on which IP address to block their services.
And for whatever reason, I absolutely hate them and do not think they deserve my data to harvest before anyone suggests split tunneling.
I do have the code on my router to allow split tunneling of certain devices - I just don’t want them having the data.
